Q. Which SAGE Reference products are available through Gale Virtual Reference Library (GVRL)?
A. All individual encyclopedia titles are available through GVRL for purchase. However, no SAGE Reference Collections can be purchased through GVRL. All Collections must be purchased through SAGE directly or through your favorite wholesaler.
Q. If I have acess on GVRL will I be able to get the SAGE Reference Online version for free?
A. The GVRL platform and the SAGE Reference Online platform are separate products, therefore they must be purchased independently of each other.
Q. Are there discounts if I have the print and want to buy the online version?
A. No discounts are offered.
Q. Will the online version be available simultaneously with the print?
A. The electronic version will publish almost simultaneously, within 2 weeks of the print version. There are a few exceptions.
Q. Are there hosting fees?
A. Yes. See below how they apply.
Annual Hosting Fee: No fee shall be charged during the initial five year period, commencing on the date of this agreement. Thereafter, the Annual Hosting Fee shall be twenty-five dollars ($25.00) per title per year; provided however, that in no event shall the Annual Hosting Fee exceed seven hundred dollars ($700.00).
For current customers, who originally purchased either single or package encyclopedias, an amendment will be added to their existing SRO contract with no new hosting fees applied separately for handbooks. For new customers, the same agreement will be used, which was recently changed to include both handbook(s) and/or encyclopedia(s) sales. The current hosting fee model will be applied ($25/title, $700 cap after 5 years). This hosting fee structure is applied to any SRO purchase, whether involving encyclopedias, handbooks, or both.
Q. How are users authenticated?
A. SAGE Reference Online supports IP address authentication and Athens.
Q. Do I have to renew my subscription every year?
A. No. There is no subscription pricing. Once you buy it, you own it. It is a one-time purchase.
